Overview
Stellar inversion techniques use observed oscillation frequencies to infer the internal structure of stars — for instance, their density or sound speed profiles. This project develops non-linear extensions of classical inversion methods to better constrain stellar models in regimes where linearisation breaks down.
Scientific goals
- Develop non-linear inversion algorithms going beyond the Born approximation.
- Apply these techniques to Kepler and PLATO targets to constrain stellar ages and compositions.
- Validate inversion results against hydrodynamical simulations.
